2021? Bring it on! Sunderland BME Network is supporting City of Culture Bid.

At the BME Network, we know that the sheer talent and artistic diversity within our community is a powerful and potent asset in supporting the Sunderland’s Bid for City of Culture status in 2021.  So, when the Sunderland 2021 bid team met with the Sunderland BME Network Management Committee they set us a challenge:

“Can the BME Network put on a celebration to support the 2021 bid?” Of course, our answer was:

“Yes”.

And when they asked us “… and can  it be an event that consists of 21 culturally diverse acts ….and can you do set all that up in 21 days?”

We love a challenge at the Network, so we said:

“2021? …. bring it on!”

Here we are 20 days later and tomorrow night at 6pm on the 17th March 2017 at Sunderland Bangladeshi International Centre the Network will showcase the talents of over 30 performers and 21 acts from our community in our first Mini Mela Cultural event of 2017.

And not just any acts, we have the best acts from the Genfactor 2016 and the winner of the city’s search for a star 2017 to name but a few. We have poets, Bollywood dancers, artists and African drummers and much, much more.

There will be music, dancing, food and a lot of fun but what the bid team, the Network and over 30 nervous performers need most of all is your support! Entry is by ticket only and they are going fast so don’t delay.

If you want to attend please contact David on 01915640888, david.newrick@sbmen.org.uk  or Steve at sentientcapacity@hotmail.co.uk.

So, come along and celebrate with us and let’s show that this City of ours is ready for 2021!
